Haig actively served for many years in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Captain, SC. After receiving early retirement, Haig became involved with the Association of the United States Navy (AUSN), formerly the Naval Reserve Association — a premier professional organization for Navy personnel. He served as Vice President of the National Budget and Finance Committee and for the past several years participated in AUSN'S Educational Assistance Program (aka Naval Reserve Association Scholarship Program) on the scholarship committee helping to choose the annual scholarship recipient. These college scholarships are given to underprivileged children of AUSN members who desire to further their education and demonstrate an interest in the hard sciences, such as mathematics, medicine and engineering. To honor Haig for his tireless service to the AUSN and commitment to and genuine support of the scholarship fund committee, the family asks that memorial contributions be made in Haig's memory to the scholarship program in lieu of customary remembrances. The Captain Haig Bodour Scholarship Fund has already received an amazing response giving testament to how many people Haig touched. Any contributions will be a 501(c)(3) tax-exemption.

Haig’s family wishes to extend a warm, heartfelt thank you to everyone who has already sent condolences and lent support without hesitation. Your generosity, encouragement, endless kindness and deep-felt sympathy brought great comfort to us in our time of grief. We could not have endured the past couple months much less the last few years without your solace. Thank you again for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers.
